Join us for a photographic outing at the Loudon Park Cemetery (https://www.loudonparkfuneralhome.com/about-us/map-and-directions) on November 3, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Loudon Park is a well-known cemetery near Catonsville with new and old graves going back prior to the Civil War (both Union and Confederate soldiers are buried here).

There are many interesting grave sites (see example pictures below). In addition to the photo opportunities at the grave sites, a full moon will be rising on Nov 3 in the late afternoon and if the sky is clear we can photograph the moon with statues in the foreground. (The outing will be held rain or shine.)

Note that the Cemetery closes promptly at 5:00 and if you would like more time to photograph you are welcome to arrive before 3:00 pm.

John Schuster and Mike Washington will be available if anyone needs assistance. We will meet up at the large flag on the hill near the entrance (3620 Wilkens Ave.) and we can drive up to the grave sites.

Join us for our next General Meeting, Wednesday, November 5, at 6:30pm. Lisa Chertok will be our speaker, sharing her creative journey and discussing classes, workshops, and online photography membership groups that have helped her develop as an artist.

Lisa Chertok is a resident of Howard County, Maryland, a Procurement Manager for SAGE Dining Services, and an amateur nature, macro, wildlife, and creative photographer.

Lisa was born in Paisley, Scotland to father Rabbi Sion David from Bombay, India and mother Helaine David, from Louisville, Kentucky, and raised in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Her lifelong quest has taken her to many countries to meet all her aunts, uncles, and cousins who are spread out over four continents.

Lisa’s grandmother, Bernice Mazin, was an acclaimed prolific artist who left a lasting artistic legacy with her children, grandchildren, and community. An annual Mazin Family Juried Art show is held annually in Louisville and attracts participants from around the country.  Lisa’s aunt Marilyn M. Miller is a world renowned sculptor based in New York.

From an early age, Lisa loved taking and sharing photos. As a teenager at summer camp, Lisa learned film photography with a Pentax 35mm film camera borrowed from a family friend. She loved learning about film photography and development and went on to be her school’s yearbook photographer.

Lisa graduated from Penn State University where she earned a BA in General Arts and Sciences, focusing on International Marketing and French. Lisa has enjoyed a storied 30+ year career in the foodservice purchasing world.

Lisa lives in Columbia, MD with her husband Mark, a soon to be retired letter carrier with the US Postal Service and their young adult children, Adam and Tova, recent graduates of Salisbury and Towson University respectively.
